The Regional Performing Ensemble consists of 46 outstanding student performers in years 7 to 11 from high schools in the Illawarra and South East Region of the NSW Department of Education and Training. Membership of the group is competitive and auditions are held each year.
The Ensemble comprises a Stage band, Vocal Group and Dance Troupe and presents a high impact cabaret style show. The group tours once a term to perform at Regional Schools and performs a smaller number of one off shows for other audiences.
An opportunity has arisen for the Ensemble to tour overseas in 2009. This tour will be in partnership with Mont’ Kiara International School in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The tour will coincide with the International School’s Fine Arts week and the Ensemble will lead the promotion of the Arts at the school through performances and joint workshops. There will also be performances at the Garden International School along with opportunities for cultural exchange.
Tour dates: Depart Sydney 8:20pm Sunday 19th April, return 7:50am Tue 28th April. Please note that Malaysia Airlines has changed the departure time.
